Donkey Kong: Barrels, Blunders & One More Try

Rating: 5 out of 10

Donkey Kong is a classic arcade game that proves simple games can still be a serious workout for your nerves. You guide Mario up a series of platforms, dodging barrels and jumping over obstacles while trying to rescue Pauline. Sounds easy, right? Not so fast.

The joystick controls are where the real challenge begins. It takes some practice to get Mario moving exactly where you want him to go, especially when a barrel is rolling toward you at full speed and you haven’t used a joystick since the 90’s. One wrong move and—bonk!—back to the start.

Fast, fun, and just frustrating enough to keep you coming back for “one more try,” Donkey Kong is an arcade classic that still delivers a great time. Just don’t blame the joystick when Mario takes another tumble!
